There are a few places to stay in Stamford, however the two main hotels are The George Hotel and The William Cecil.
If you are struggling to find any where then it will be worth checking TripAdvisor, though please be aware that around Burgley Horse Trials week accommodation does get booked up in advance.
The George Hotel
71 St Martins
Stamford. PE9 2LB
Tel: 01780 750 750
The George is one of Stamford’s most well-established hotels, and there has been a coaching inn on the site for hundreds of years. The hotel makes the most of its heritage, and visitors will notice the doorways still marked “London” and “York”, denoting the waiting rooms for these respective directions on the highway.
The hotel offers two restaurants and a bar, as well as serving Afternoon Tea in the Lounge and Courtyard.
With a solid reputation and consistently high reviews, in 2011 The George was upgraded to an impressive four AA stars.
Room rates range from £95 for a single, to £230 for the luxurious “four-poster” suites, although special offers are sometimes available.
The William Cecil (previously Lady Annes)
St Martins
Stamford. PE9 2LJ
Tel: 01780 750 070
Nestled within the Burghley Estate, the William Cecil (previously known as Lady Annes) was taken over by Hillbrooke Hotels Group who entirely refurbished the premises in 2011, striking a balance between the old-world charm that is synonymous with Stamford, and their own distinctive “quirky luxury” style. This has included providing wheelchair access to all public areas of the hotel and offering a selection of ground-floor rooms.
The hotel’s restaurant makes a particular point of serving “local, fresh, simple and seasonal food” with the emphasis firmly placed on dining in an informal, relaxed environment.
Room rates are from £110 – £170 for a double room.
